Hogar: Bathroom Refresh

After living in our apartment for 7 months I got tired of looking at the contrast between our white bathroom tiles and  yellowy-white paint. The day I was working on updating the dresser I decided to use up the rest of the paint and brighten up our bathroom.

The bright white paint made such a huge difference! Alas I started on YET another home project: bathroom refresh. After lots of inspiration searching and a trip to West Elm and Target later, I am ready to show off our new and improved bathroom which got an approval rating of 20 (out of a scale of 1-10) from Ces!

Weekly Chicome {10/1-10/7}

Hello! Weekly Chicome has been MIA for the last few weeks due to travel, illness and a little bit of laziness. Getting October started on the right foot here are my favorites from the week! 

{1.} Lots of content to share with ya'll (recipes, food reviews, home tours, flea market finds and crafts) feeling inspired!

{2.} Feeling better after a few days of being sick, lots of vitamin C, naps and hot drinks sped up my recovery.

{3.} Going all-in on a bathroom re-vamp. Can't wait to share the new look soon but for now here is a sneak peek of the shower curtain we went with.

{4}. RSVP-ing {YES} to a close friends fabulous wedding in Udaipur, India. We've already started looking at flights and cannot wait to plan a trip around the golden triangle and go sari shopping! 

{5.} Celebrating another friend's nuptials this weekend in New York. 

{6.} A couple of great thrift store finds! I'll be revealing their new homes in our home next week. 

{7.} Spending a great low-key weekend with Ces. Our weekend consisted of our team's soccer game, brunching, attending Jon and Marielle's wedding, shopping at the farmers market and thrift store, sleeping and baking.

Foodie: Chiles En Nogada

Ces and I recently went to check out a highly recommended restaurant Sabores in Hoboken. The food is authentic, the service warm and welcoming as if you were visiting family or an old friend. I had the Chile en Nogada a traditional dish from Puebla, it consists of a poblano chile stuffed with picadillo, covered in a walnut-based cream sauce (called nogada) and topped off with pomegranate seeds. The dish juxtaposes the spiciness of the chile and the sweetness of the sauce, making it absolutely delectable. Not many places carry chiles en nogada, finding Sabores in Hoboken was a real gem.

London at Night

I went to Europe last week for work, more specifically England for work and France for fun. My firm is based in London and while I had training at the corporate office for one day, I was only able to see the sights  during my ONE free night. I took a two hour walking tour (self-guided) of London down Piccadilly Circus and set my destination as Buckingham Palace. This was my first time in the city and I figured the must-see for me would have to be where The Queen calls home.

As they say, its all about the journey, not the destination. By the time I reached Buckingham Palace, my camera had died (total fail).

Hogar: A Country-Side English Manor

Hello friends!

I know I've been a bit MIA lately and that is because #1 I had to travel to the UK for a company marketing retreat last week {I took advantage of already being in Europe and had a weekend escapade in Bordeaux, more on that later :)} and #2 have been feeling sick and sniffly this week {boo to changing weather, jet lag and germs}.

Part of the company training just so happened to be held over a two-day stay at a grand, old (built in 1720's), gorgeous English Manor outside Ipswich, England. I absolutely fell in love with this home, the decor was a mix of modern (ghost chairs) and traditional English (chesterfield sofas). Fifteen bedrooms, eleven bathrooms, a library, ballroom, game room and multiple dinning and living areas sitting on acres and acres of land; I just HAD to share it with you.
